Score 83/100 · Drink 2023, Neal Martin, Aug 2023

The 1983 Gloria has a light bouquet and a tertiary and leathery style with just a bit of volatility. The palate is medium-bodied with dry, rustic tannins. The 1983 Saint-Pierre perhaps shows a little more charm and sweetness on the finish. This Gloria is past its best. Tasted at the château.

A forward, typically spicy, herbaceous-scented, fruity Gloria, the 1983 has more noticeable tannin than the 1982, but less rich, glossy fat fruit. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 1/89.

About the producer

Ch. Gloria
Gloria

The modest Ch. Gloria was only created in the 1940s, when Henri Martin – a cooper – purchased some vines. With parcels dotted in amongst the region’s Classed Growths, it produces impressive wines. Today it's managed by Vanessa and Jean Triaud (Henri Martin’s granddaughter and grandson-in-law).
