We skipped over the 2010 vintage because Lodovico Antinori is less pleased with that wine's evolution. There is little doubt, however, concerning the massive appeal of the 2009 Biserno. Specifically, I need to underline how beautifully the wine is drinking at this very moment in time. If you have a bottle, it's time to pop that cork. You will be treated to a beautifully balanced wine that feels ever so natural and comfortable in its plus-sized intensity. The wine walks with a heavy gait, but it does so with the impeccable grace of a classic dancer. Dark fruit segues to spice, leather, smoke and cigar box. The wine's substantial textural richness caresses the palate. This vintage is right up there with the excellent 2015 release.

Sweet grilled herbs, incense, pine, menthol and espresso are some of the many notes that burst from the glass in the 2009 Biserno. Wonderfully alive and opulent, the 2009 is totally spherical in its expression of black fruit. Layers of fruit continue to build in the glass as the wine flows through to a creamy, expressive finish.

The 2009 Biserno (Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot) is humming with energy and bold fruit flavors of blackberry, chocolate-covered cherry, rum cake, exotic spice, moist pipe tobacco, salvia and dried garden herb. It shows enormous balance and a profound, opulent mouthfeel. The finish is long and extra smooth. Give this beautiful Tuscan blend a few more years in the bottle. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030. ||Tenuta di Biserno is the pride and joy of Lodovico Antinori, a man with a gifted talent for selecting the best sites for growing vines along the rugged coast of Tuscany. After selling Tenuta dell’Ornellaia years ago, Lodovico invested much of his energy and passion here. Wine Advocate.August, 2013
