The 2014 Tertre-Rôteboeuf has a high-toned bouquet with macerated red cherries, raspberry coulis and wild heather scents. It is quite Burgundian in style, with what feels like toastier oak. As usual, blind, it stylistically is sui generis. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent fleshy red fruit, silky smooth in texture, not deep and lacking grip. That said, it slips down the throat with ease. Like Sade, a "smooth operator", even though François Mitjavile has crafted superior vintages in recent years. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.

Tasted blind. Plenty of red hue at the core. Sweet, ripe and quite oaky/toasty. Really very oaky on the palate though there’s nice fruit underneath. Smooth, fresh and balanced in this sweetly oaky style. Juicy fruit and lots of toasty pleasure. Just a little dry on the finish. (JH)

Tasted blind. Very nuanced colour with some evolution. Very sweet and oaky on the nose. Very different and rich. Rose petals and soft tannins. Neat. Long. Opulent. Marmite wine. (JR)

The 2014 Tertre Roteboeuf is an exuberant, generous, incredibly sexy wine in a vintage they yielded more classic, straightforward efforts. Boasting a deep ruby/plum color as well as a rockin’ bouquet of espresso, spice-box, blackberries, new leather and Asian spice, this ripe, medium to full-bodied, layered 2014 has terrific purity of fruit as well as an undeniable hedonistic, opulent personality. It’s one of the stronger wines in the vintage and can be drunk now or cellared for 15+ years.
