Score 92-94/100 · William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Feb 2020

The 2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Malconsorts is showing beautifully, wafting from the glass with aromas of cassis, plums, spices, smoked duck, potpourri and rich soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, rich and powerful, it's a concentrated, textural wine built around succulent acids and ripe tannins, its ample core of fruit complemented by enticing carnal nuances. As is often the case, this was vinified with some two-thirds whole clusters.

The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Les Malconsorts 1er Cru contains two-thirds whole cluster and is matured in 50% new oak. It has a well-defined bouquet of raspberry, wild strawberry and pressed rose petal scents, plus just a hint of black truffle in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. A gentle, lilting Les Malconsorts with a pliant, lightly spiced finish. Maybe other vintages have displayed a little more density on the finish, but this remains a lovely premier cru.
