Part of the Symingtons' current Library Release collection. Recorked and relabelled.  Darker colour than the Warre's 2003. This seems just as floral as the Warre's but also more intense and somehow more exotic. Also darker and more rocky, more classic Douro character, more concentrated on the palate. A touch smoky. Silky-smooth, deep and balanced in a rich, bold style. (JH)

Very dark blackish crimson. Some sweet liquorice and then massively sweet on the palate. Heat is a little obvious on the palate at the moment. A bit sinewy and awkward for now. Black pepper! Wait. (JR)

Very very dark. Mesmerisingly complex nose. Great concentration – superripe elderberries. Round and sumptuous with the most massive charge of ripe fruit that initially completely covers the lovely ripe tannins. Quite enough acidity – but really spicy and interesting. Very subtle – not the biggest, sweetest wine but lovely roundness. Not as intense as one might expect. Half made in their beloved robotic lagares. (JR)

Deep, saturated ruby. Initially reticent aromas of dark chocolate and nuts; showed a high-pitched eucalyptus quality as it opened in the glass. Then almost shockingly huge and rich in fruit, with wonderfully lush, complex flavors of cassis, violet, minerals, spices, flowers and exotic chocolate. The tannins are seductively sweet, yet the finish boasts terrific focus, not to mention outstanding persistence. In terms of sheer palate-saturating flavor and texture, this runs a close second to Fonseca among these 2003s. For long aging.
