2015 Château Trotanoy

The 2015 Trotanoy is impressive, though I would not rank it amongst the best over the last decade. This has an engaging and complex bouquet with black cherry, mocha, balsamic and autumn leaf aromas that combine beautifully. This has the nose of a Pomerol aged for more than ten years. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, exquisite balance and poise. It is fresh and vibrant with a little more clarity and mineralité than the La Fleur-Pétrus. The 2015 is a wonderful Pomerol that is drinking delightfully right now.

Creamy raspberry, beautiful clarity to the brambled fruit, with a slab of bitter chocolate and fennel. As you would expect from Trotanoy, the mid palate expands and deepens, expertly constructed and just full of quiet joy. You could begin drinking this now, as it is hovering on the edge of its drinking window, and will keep climbing from here. 50% new oak for ageing, Christian Moueix owner.

Tannins have closed in around the fruit at this moment, showing just what a powerful vintage the 2015 is. Sensational stuff, hiding depths of flavour that will slowly but surely unfurl over the next decade. Black cherry, damson, cocoa bean, espresso, liqourice, olive paste.
