Tasting notes
The 1995 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Intistieti explodes onto the palate, making its presence immediately felt. A wine of driving intensity and dynamic energy, the 1995 is majestic today. Chalk, white pepper, incense and flowers run through a core of dark-toned fruit; all wrapped up with insistent yet finessed tannins. In a weekend of magnificent wines, the 1995 Riserva Intistieti is nothing short of spellbinding.

A big, powerful wine, the 1995 Brunello di Montalcino Intistieti exudes depth. There is no shortage of intensity, although this bottle offers a bit less mid-palate sweetness than some other recent examples, while the tannins are decidedly rustic. Leather, smoke, dried cherry and licorice add to the wine's brooding, imposing personality.
The 1995 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Case Basse is soft, voluptuous and inviting. An especially racy, forward wine, the 1995 Case Basse impresses with its succulent dark fruit, silky tannins and sexy, alluring personality. Some Soldera wines have real sensual quality. The 1995 Case Basse is one of them.
The 1995 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Case Basse takes things to another level entirely. It is a big, massive Brunello loaded with dark cherries, smoke, licorice and tar. There is a purity and sheer beauty to this wine that is absolutely irresistible. In 1995 the Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is made from Case Basse fruit, while the Intistieti and normal bottling of Brunello are made from Intistieti fruit.
About the producer

Soldera is one of the most highly rated, fiercely collected wines of Italy. The winery is based in the Brunello di Montalcino, however the estate is no longer labelled as a Brunello, following a fall out with the consortium. Made from 100% Sangiovese, the wine is currently bottled as a Toscana IGT.
