Jeroboam. Sweet and soapy. A bit decayed. Transparent. Looks much older than the Ch L'Évangile 1959. (JR)

Tasted 2 Times With Consistent Notes Due to the fact that the 1959 was undoubtedly made from relatively young vines (the 1956 freeze caused a significant loss of vines at Canon), this bottle performed spectacularly. The sweet, chocolatey, jammy, black-cherry-scented nose and opaque garnet color revealed few signs of age. The wine exhibited an underlying herbaceous quality (young vines?), but its superb richness and chewy, viscous, thick flavors were sensational. There is enough richness and tannin for the wine to evolve for another 15-20 years. It is a magnificent example of Canon!
