The 2010 Meursault Clousots, poured from magnum, has an enticing, yellow flower and Japanese yuzu bouquet that unfolds in the glass with wonderful definition. The palate has a welcome bitter edge on the entry and fine acidity. To be frank, there is no real depth of mineralité ; however, there is plenty of sapidity on the finish. Very fine. Tasted at Sarah Marsh’s 2010 white burgundy tasting in London.

Magnum. Deep greenish gold. Much less developed nose than the 2010 white burgundies tasted so far in this line-up. Rather neutral flavours. This hardly seems to have developed at all! A little Meursault sweetness on palate entry perhaps, and then all held in reserve. But this producer’s wines do last forever so I am optimistic about the future. In the glass it developed a bit more richness. (JR)

Good bright straw-yellow. Subtly complex nose hints at fresh apricot, citrus fruit, white truffle and fresh herbs; less fruity than the Tillets. Juicy and tight in the mouth, showing excellent sugar/acid balance and energy. This fresh, sappy midweight seems to be going into a shell. Finishes longer than the Tillets, with excellent mineral cut. Javillier suggests that this will be at its best in five or six years.

Scented and floral with some real conviction. Dense and long and really very exciting. It rather shows up the Michel Bouzereau wines just tasted, which are weaker vessels. Exciting. (JR)
