Full bottle 1,308 g. Natural cork. Tasted blind. Ruby colour. Dried cherry, blackberry and bramble. Dusty and earthy with dried thyme and lavender. The nose is incredibly compelling, sweet and heady, this is one of the more expressive Zins I've had the pleasure of putting my nose in. Sweet, sticky cherry fruit and dried thyme and lavender on the palate. The texture is rounded and I do suspect this has RS but it's firmly in its place. Ripe and polished with no rough edges. You could age this for a few years but it's great now. Due to the sweet fruit, this would do well with sauced and smoky meat – BBQ ribs or orange duck seem like they'd be ideal. (SCJ)

The 2019 Zinfandel Hayne Vineyard comes across as quite reticent following its bottling about six months before this tasting. Deep and beautifully layered, with tons of depth, the Hayne Zinfandel is one of the most classic and important wines being made in St. Helena today. The Hayne was far more expressive from barrel than is today, but I expect it will bounce back in another year or two.

The 2019 Zinfandel Hayne Vineyard is sensational. Wow. What a wine. Rich, sumptuous and explosive in the glass, the Hayne Zinfandel is just magnificent. Ripe red/purplish fruit, dried flowers, mint, rose petal and hard candy all open in the glass, but what stands out is the wine's mind-blowing balance. Hayne is a Napa Valley Grand Cru, and this wine is a great example of its pedigree. Don't miss it.
