Picked very late, in the first week of November, the 2010 Nahe Riesling Bockenauer Felseneck "GG" is quite reductive but intense and concentrated on the nose where dusty stone and some vegetal aromas are displayed. It is still very young, vegetal and not ready to drink. On the palate, this is a very concentrated and compact Riesling with great vitality and mineral expression but also elegance. A great wine made for the next 20 years. (From my rediscovered archive; tasted in February 2015.)

Honey, lime, marmalade – clean and clinical with that disinfectant sulphur character ever present. Loads of fruit, savoury finish with blistering acidity. (RH)
The nose is dominated by powerful herbaceous aromas, an uncompromising expression of spontaneous fermentation. This can be a problem in the tasting of young wines just bottled, and under ideal conditions decanting 24 hours in advance would certainly remove some of the sulphurous sting. Once this obstacle has been overcome, there are rich rewards of concentrated fruit and tightly packed minerality. Grapefruit and lime flavours team up with an attractive salty tang and the most delicate sprinkling of grated peel. Full bodied, compact and long, out of Fröhlich's four Grosse Gewächse, the Felseneck nudges my favour by a whisker. (MS)
