Lemon and peach stones on the nose, with a hint of pine kernels and cream that add a savoury quality. Creamy and leesy on the palate, adding breadth and a lemon-curd note before very high acidity cuts through the fruit. Very taut, bright and floral on the finish. (TP)

The 2016 Chardonnay Sanford & Benedict emerges from one of the sections in this historic vineyard planted with own-rooted vines. Lemon confit, white flowers, apricot and lightly tropical notes are woven together in a finessed, wonderfully nuanced Chardonnay full of character and personality. If California has a classification of vineyard site, Sanford & Benedict would sit at or near the top. This is a terrific expression of site.
