Score 89/100 · Robert Parker, Dec 2010

The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District exhibits cedarwood, graphite and black currant characteristics along with medium body and good depth as well as richness. This is certainly an excellent, nearly outstanding wine, which is progress. Given the acid profiles, these wines will undoubtedly age reasonably well, but don’t expect anything magical to develop. These wines should be better than they are. They seem like failsafe sort of efforts, designed for the uncritical shopper, but holding little interest for the serious wine lover. They are well-made and clean, but they are what I call a “single glass” style of wine. While there is nothing wrong with the first glass, there is not enough interest for a second. Actually that is an improvement for Clos du Val where the wines have gone through a sterile period that appears to be coming to an end. Tel. (707) 261-5200
