2006 Brunello di Montalcino Togata dei Togati

Impenetrable dark ruby, almost black, beginning of orange on the rim. Resin and sweet red fruit. Very soft and velvety palate, with cherry and zippy acidity turning up on the finish. Very slow to show its Sangiovese core, but it comes at the end. Long and fragrant and satisfying. Mid-term ageing, it seems. (WS)
