Tasting notes
From a parcel next to La Tourtine, the real head turner in the vintage should be the 2014 Bandol Rouge Cuvee Carassaou. My notes start (and end) with “Wow!” This fabulous-looking barrel sample offers terrific notes of cassis, violets, crushed flowers and licorice in a full-bodied, ultra-polished, layered and balanced package. This tannin quality is truly first rate, and this is one 2014 I can’t wait to taste from bottle.

95% Mourvèdre from a small parcel of 60-year-old vines. Quite reduced nose. Introvert and very chewy on the end. Some real lift. But very edgy and alcoholic on the end. (JR)
