Tasting notes
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras comes from a rocky vineyard that normally yields a more elegant, floral wine compared to the Dr. Crane Vineyard, which is just a stone’s throw away. Deep purple-hued with notes of blackcurrants, toasted spice, flowery incense, and cigar tobacco, this rock star of a wine hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a lush, opulent texture, ripe tannins, and a great, great finish.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard rocks up out of the glass with effortlessly expressive warm cassis, baked plums and boysenberry notes plus suggestions of pencil lead, fragrant earth and menthol plus a touch of dark chocolate. Full-bodied, firm and grainy in the mouth, the palate is jam parked with black fruit preserves, finishing long and earthy. 100 cases produced.
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras is the most tannic of the three 2017 Cabernets I tasted from Vice Versa. Then again, that's Las Piedras. Gravel, smoke, crushed rocks, violets, crème de cassis and inky dark fruit emerge gradually from a wall of huge tannins in this powerful, virile Cabernet.
