Medium red. Redcurrant, violet and a whiff of smoke on the nose. Supple on entry, then tight in the middle, showing an iron-like nuance to its redcurrant and torrefaction flavors. Finishes sappy, savory and a bit youthfully dry. Many of these 2010s lead with their black fruits, but this wine is distinctly red in character.

Good deep red. Initially stunted nose offers hints of cassis, licorice, violet and bitter chocolate torrefaction as the wine opens in the glass. Sweet but reduced, with edgy acidity currently cutting off the fruit on the back end. I picked up a note of toasted bread. Lacking in flesh and very hard to taste today. Today the basic village wine shows a better balance.
