The 2020 20m3 (Viognier) offers good varietal character and creaminess in a soft, understated style that is best enjoyed over the near term. There is good depth to the fruit, but the aromatics are both diffuse and unfocused. Those eccentricities mask some of the personality that defines the best vintages.
The terrific 2020 Viognier 20m3 has serious character, with plenty of tangerine, orange blossom, pineapple, and minty notes to go with a medium-bodied, fresh, lively, yet still textured style on the palate. Drink it over the coming 3-4 years as well.
Tasted a few weeks before bottling, this 100% Viognier is an amphora sample from the Chateauneuf-du-Pott Vineyard. The 2020 Viognier 20m³ has a lovely hint of reduction/struck match, giving way to apple and peach notes with hints of coriander seed and grapefruit peel. It is medium-bodied, crisp, clean and tightly wound with a lovely chalky finish. Production is 76 cases.
