Score 94/100 · Drink 2020-2040, Jeb Dunnuck, Jan 2020

From a site on Howell Mountain, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Black Sears Vineyard is another beautiful wine from Tony Arcudi. Lots of classic mountain scrub brush, forest floor, and scorched earth notes, as well as a core of blue fruits, define the nose, and this beauty is medium to full-bodied, balanced, and elegant on the palate. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 20 months in two-thirds new French oak, it’s a rock-solid 2017 to enjoy over the coming two decades.

Tony Arcudi's 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Black Sears Vineyard is inky, powerful and super-concentrated, with tremendous overall depth. The 2017 is going to need time to fully come together, in barrel and then in bottle, as it is unusually raw and undeveloped at this stage.
