Tasting notes
Showing the beautiful orange color that is a distinctive calling card, the Gravner 2015 Ribolla offers dry and macerated aromas in which the primary fruit plays a background role. Instead, you get canned apricot, plum brandy and dusty clay soil. This elegant Ribolla offers an especially wide and determined mouthfeel in this warm and sunny vintage. If you are a Gravner enthusiast, you'll love the texture and richness of this age-worthy wine. It should be fascinating to see how this wine evolves with bottle age.

The 2015 Ribolla Gialla Anfora is sweetly alluring, with a complex and heady blend of orange blossoms, raw honey, mint leaf, earl grey, dried apricots and peaches. It smooths over the palate with oily textures, lifted by a core of nervous acidity. Tart orchard fruits swirl throughout and are complicated by a mouthwatering twist of tangerine. The 2015 lingers impossibly long, spicy and wickedly fresh, mixing candied ginger with lemon sorbet, hints of butterscotch and exotic inner florals. The 2015 is a rich wine of contrasts and tension.
About the producer

Along with the likes of Radikon, Joško Gravner – whose vines straddle the Italian-Slovenian border – is a leading light of the natural-wine movement. His skin-contact Ribolla Gialla has inspired many imitators, while the rare Pignolo is prized by those in the know.
