Harvested 23 September to 10 October. 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc. 1993 wasn’t a great year, with September rain spoiling what had looked like a fine vintage. The 1993 was a pleasant surprise. With plump red/black fruit on the palate, smoky oak and fine tannins, this has aged better than expected. At its peak now, you could still enjoy this for 3–4 years. This was actually the second wine I ever purchased en primeur, so I’m slightly biased! (AWH)

Mouton's great winemaking comes to the fore in this wine in the face of the difficult year of 1993. It's a surprisingly substantial Bordeaux for such a wet growing season, even now displaying strong blackberries and mint flavors. Full-bodied with tannins that are just coming around.
