Score 93/100 · Drink 2020-2026, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2017

(one of the three barrels was new; 13.4% alcohol with 3.6 grams of acidity): Bright, light yellow. Tight but pure aromas of lemon, orange, spices, menthol and stone. Concentrated, tactile and seamless but with firm acidity and a low pH for the year giving the wine an impression of power. Boasts superb thickness with serious lift. Not a particularly elegant vintage for this bottling but deep, layered and long.

(one of three barrels was new): Bright yellow. Pepper and salt on the restrained nose. Boasts outstanding depth and energy, but the youthful stone fruit flavors are currently dominated by powerful tactile minerality. Most impressive today for its mounting, sinewy, palate-staining finish--and hard to spit! This brisk, penetrating, dense young white Burgundy delivers a rare combination of power and weightlessness. I would never have guessed it was from 2015. Production here was just 23 hectoliters per hectare, according to Pillot.
