Spontaneous fermentation in barrel, 50% new. Between 10 and 12 months of ageing. Lowish sulphite additions. Only just bottled. In complete contrast with Sous Frétille, this grand cru is all about structure – bold, radial, fractal with precise acidity. Although it does start with floral perfume on the nose, and then, like the village P-V, strong lactic tones of cultured butter. The mid palate is intense with ripe, deep-yellow fruit, fanning out on the end and leaving a sense of tamarind and tarragon. Fabulous focus and structure. (TC)

The 2023 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, taken from barrel instead of vat like the other white cuvées, has an intense bouquet with yellow plum, peach skin and light nectarine scents underlying crushed stone and white linen aromas. The palate is well balanced, with tropical notes of passionfruit and peach on the entry. Yet the acidity keeps this in a straight line and the texture is exactly what you seek from a Corton-Charlemagne. This is delicious.
