Tasting notes
From another eastern Oakville vineyard, just off the Silverado Trail, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Tin Box Vineyard was aged entirely in new Taransaud barrels. Marked by scents of mocha and smoked meat plus plenty of red and black cherries, this medium to full-bodied effort is taut, fresh and silky textured, with a bright, almost-saline finish.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Tin Box Vineyard is a wild, exotic wine, with the 25% Cabernet Franc very much felt. Crushed flowers, red cherry fruit, mint, Kirsch, blood orange and cinnamon all grace this sublime, wonderfully vibrant Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc blend. The 2021 was stellar from barrel. It is all that from bottle today.
Including 10% Cabernet Franc and from a site just outside of Oakville, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Tin Box Vineyard is a darker, grilled red, blue, and black-fruited 2021 that has distinct iron, sandalwood, leafy herbs, and earthy nuances. Rich and medium to full-bodied, with considerable tannins and bright acidity, it will need 4-5 years of bottle age.
Blended with 10% Cabernet Franc, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Tin Box is a rich, concentrated, yet graceful wine from Bevan that has a gorgeous perfume of red and black fruits, camphor, iron, sandalwood, and dried flowers. The tannins are present yet ripe and polished, it has flawless balance, and a great finish.
