Tasting notes
This closed Syrah requires 5-6 more years of cellaring. An opaque black/purple-colored wine with considerable tannin and intensity, it is immensely weighty and powerful on the palate. There is a degree of austerity in the 1993 that is not present in the unbottled 1994 (a mid-90 point wine). The 1993 is a well-endowed, rich, structured wine for 15-20+ years of cellaring. About the producer

Ch. Rayas is a cult name in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The wines – pure, silken expressions of Grenache with distinctive perfume – are revered for their singularity and fiercely collected. Made by Emmanuel Reynaud and renowned for their ageability, they have become some of the region's most sought-after.
