Realm's 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard—a blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc—features knockout aromas of black cherries, loamy earth and dried spices that suggest cinnamon and cardamom. It's full-bodied, velvety and richly concentrated, with a long finish that's softly tannic, even a touch dusty. While far from being unapproachable, it should be even better in a decade or so.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard is stellar. Vertical and imposing, the 2021 captures all the brooding power of To Kalon in the more restrained style that is typical of Realm today. Crème de cassis, leather, lavender, mint and spice linger on the polished close. This is the first vintage that includes a touch of Cabernet Franc that was previously bottled separately and that adds a distinct floral/saline quality that is especially evident in the finish.

Drink this thrilling 2021 over the coming 20-25 years.
Blackcurrant with lime skin and ink pot in the nose. Very perfumed. Lead pencil. Full-bodied with chewy yet rounded edges to the tannins. Juicy and tannically dry. Reminds me of old BV Private Reserve from the 1960s.
