Tasting notes
Bright crimson. Inky with some of the fragrance of Cabernet Franc. Vigorous and with great energy and focus but already quite open. Sappy and savoury. A very nice drink already even if not a powerhouse (JR)

A major sleeper of the vintage, this blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot is very concentrated, with dense blackberry and cassis as well as hints of espresso roast, chocolate and camphor. A terrific value at under $20 a bottle, this wine is deep, rich and performing like a classified growth, which is well above its humble pedigree. The vineyards of Retout are located in the middle Medoc, not far from the village of Cussac-Fort-Medoc. A member of the Alliance des Cru Bourgeois du Medoc. (RP)
15.6% Merlot, 84.4% Cabernet Sauvignon. Unusually dark purple. Slightly inky nose. Dramatic but a bit demanding and jagged. Trying hard! Rather dry finish. (JR)
Kopp Vignobles. Lots of acidity but good freshness and great confidence. Nothing forced here. Good for the short term. (JR)
