Tasting notes
The wine is released to wine club members in Australia, New Zealand and the United States, and there are only 150 cases. The 2022 Sabine Selection Pinot Noir comprises a selection from the vineyard grown on clay in the home block that looked particularly special that vintage. The wine is perfumed and floral, with a milk chocolate splay of creaminess through the finish that distinguishes it from the other cuvées from this season. Pressed incense, grated nutmeg, pomegranate molasses, raspberry seed and sweet pouch tobacco mingle with dried herbs, crushed rock and brine. The 10X5 clone that plays a bit part in this wine is integral to its expression; it leans into the earthy, savory aspect of the vineyard, while the 667 clone is the pretty, floral, lifted component. Together, they make something quite special—a beautiful, graceful and mineral wine. 14% alcohol, sealed under natural cork.

The 2022 Burn Cottage Vineyard Pinot Noir is light and fine, with a delicate array of cherry, strawberry, red apple and freshly pressed linen notes. Woven throughout is sweet tobacco, graphite, white tea and finely ground pink peppercorns. In the mouth, the acidity works with the tannins to penetrate the palate with flavor, and it has an ethereal quality to it, which marks it as distinctly different from the Sauvage Pinot Noir. This is an eminently pretty Pinot Noir and comes highly recommended. 13.5% alcohol, sealed under natural cork.
Perfumed and fragrant aromas of dark cherries, blackberry bushes, spices, wet bark and rose petals. The palate is medium-bodied with firmly integrated tannins and bright acidity, giving notes of redcurrants, wild raspberries, citrus peel and lead pencil. Refined and pure with an underlying power and tension.
