Tasting notes
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Exzellenz is another wine from this team that plays at the upper end of the spectrum. Incredibly aromatic with notes of bloody black and blue fruits, iron, leather, and tobacco, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a round, lush, pleasure-bent mouthfeel, velvety tannins, and a great, great finish. I followed this bottle for multiple days, and it never failed to impress. It can be drunk any time over the coming 20-25 years.

Predominantly Sacrashe Vineyard fruit (94%), the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Exzellenz—named for Kathryn's ambassadorship to Austria (1997 – 2001)—shows more floral notes than many of the other Hall Cabernets, bringing an intriguing complexity to the purple raspberry fruit. Medium to full-bodied, this wine is firmly built but silky, with a long, mouthwatering finish.
