2020 Maximin Grunhauser Abtsberg Spatlese 7

It’s finesse, stupid, Bill Clinton could have said when co-tasters might have bemoaned lack of exuberance, at least as far as the fragrance of the Abtsberg Spätlese is concerned. A fine citrus spray titillates the nostrils; a whiff of herbal honey adds temptation. On the palate there’s more mango and orange than peach and sweet apple, but it’s the honey that adds that sumptuous taste and mouthfeel. Quite luscious, although zest and spices do their best to rein-in any attempt at opulence. (MS)
