The 2015 Tronquoy Lalande has a delightful bouquet with blackberry, bilberry and light licorice scents that gain vigor with aeration. The palate is balanced and medium-bodied with firm tannins and neatly integrated oak. Tarry black fruit is layered on the finish and leaves a firm grip, suggesting it will require several years before this reaches its drinking window. The 2015 Tronquoy-Lalande feels just a little herbaceous (not green) on the nose. It is well defined but just lacks that extra zip and brightness demonstrated by some of its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, quite fresh and classic in style with lightly spiced, black-pepper-tinged blackberry and bilberry fruit. Demonstrating ample grip on the finish, this should mature into a commendable Saint-Estèphe. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting.
55% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc. Dark garnet. Round and fresh and very appetising in contrast to the 2018! A real success. Long and fresh. Tasting really well already. GV ? (JR)

This 30-hectare estate in Saint-Estèphe is only classified as a Cru Bourgeois yet its terroir has long been prized. Now part of the same stable as the illustrious Ch. Montrose, there has been significant investment here, with rising quality and wines that now offer excellent value.
