Mild and sweet but very well balanced with elderflower notes and just a little softness. Ticks the boxes though it is very youthful. (JR)

An expression of very ripe blackcurrant is tastefully complemented by a fine savoury note. Deliciously juicy and with a deft touch of residual sugar, the Kirschheck must be idiosyncratic in its pronounced yet refined expression of those highly aromatic berries. Tasting notes like ‘Ribena’ and ‘blackcurrant pure’ seem to reflect the inaptitude of the taster to come up with more sophisticated terms, but if, in a Kenny Everettish way, you imagine it all done in the best possible taste, you’ll get a fair idea of what this Spätlese is all about.
