Tasting notes
Racked to tank early November, so he wasn’t going to show this or the Gravières. Just 27 ares (two-thirds of an acre) in three parcels in Les Champs Claudes. Centenarian vines picked early, 29 August. Trained Cordon de Royat – classic for reds here and better for spacing (just six buds) and less fragile. 50% whole bunch. Very light pigeage. Mid cherry. Peppery dark-red fruit. Lithe and fruity but not simple. Chalky tannins. Tight and fresh. I could enjoy this now. (JH)
