Drink 0-0, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Oct 2019

Pale red with an amber edge. A bit dry and old, lacking expansiveness and give. Still a touch of remaining spicy sweetness but dry on the end and well past its best. Not for me. (October 18 harvest; 22 h/h; the only vintage in the tasting in which the Clos des Ducs was not destemmed)

Not destemmed – the only vintage, perhaps because it was so soft. Harvest 18 October, yield 22 hl/ha. Gentle, pure and old fashioned. Just into a previous era. Should it have been tasted with the 1970s? On the way down. Easy to like. (JR)
