Bright red-ruby. Very ripe, nuanced aromas of black cherry, dark raspberry, licorice and earth. Densely packed and very ripe but again with sound, harmonious acidity giving shape to the dark fruit, spice and licorice flavors. Finishes with a strong spine of building tannins and pungent violet florality. This extract-rich, very primary wine will require considerable patience and may eventually merit an even higher rating.

The 2015 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru has a more ravishing and ripe bouquet than the Clos du Roi: bold black cherries mingling with raspberry coulis and boysenberry jam. It does gain more composure as it mellows in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp and focused and not as "heavy" as the Clos du Roi, the finish demonstrating a degree of finesse that the Clos du Roi needs to manifest. This is a well-crafted Corton that should yield a dozen years of drinking pleasure.

Ruby-red. Wild, slightly reduced aromas of blackberry, black cherry, raspberry, minerals, leather and game. Fine-grained and quite dry, even a bit stunted in the middle palate in the early going; not at all a blockbuster. But this juicy, primary, youthfully imploded wine boasts terrific energy. The long finish leaves behind a pungent note of tart cherry. This grand cru should be a long ager.
