Tasting notes
Monforte d’Alba. 31 months in oak. Palish ruby. Pure and fantastic depth on the nose but still very subdued. Hints of raspberry, iron and blood orange. Very compact with tightly knit, fine-grained tannins. Great purity of fruit on the palate, but still very curled up. (WS)

The 2020 Barolo Romirasco is the best of the 2020s in this range, boasting all the wild savoriness and minerality that is typical of this site. It also clearly shows better oak integration than the other single-vineyard Barolos. Chalk, mint, white pepper, sage, incense and blood orange all race across the palate. Romirasco is a special site. Conterno's 2020 captures the energy here in a style that straddles the modern and the classic
