Tasting notes
Well-defined with white pepper, bay leaf and mineral scents, the 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuées 1er Cru has a slightly more savory nose, perhaps due to more whole bunch usage here. Complex and involving, the palate is medium-bodied, with a beautifully balanced opening. The fruit is primal and luscious, yet there remains structure, a gentle/insistent grip and a chewy finish. Just give it time to find its groove, and I'm sure it will merit a couple more points. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The fireworks continue with the 2019 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées, a striking wine that unwinds in the glass with notions of raspberries, cherries, sweet spices, rose petals, loamy soil and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and layered, it's concentrated and tightly wound, its deep core of fruit framed by lively acids and powdery tannins, concluding with a long, mineral finish.
