A solid, well-made Saint-Emilion, the 2023 Château Larmande offers assorted red and black fruits, leafy herbs, chocolate, and some earthy, chalky minerality on the nose. Based on 78% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged in 50% new French oak (balance in once-used barrels and amphora), it's medium-bodied, nicely balanced, and has fine tannins as well as a great finish. It's rock solid and should keep for at least 15 years. Tasted multiple times with consistent notes. Drink 2026-2040.

The 2023 Larmande is laced with expressive raspberry fruit, blood orange and crushed flowers. It offers lovely brightness to match the understated personality it showed en primeur . This mid-weight Saint-Émilion is a fine choice for drinking now and over the next dozen years or so. Tasted two times.

The 2023 Larmande has a light, slightly herbaceous, yet at least cohesive bouquet that is framed in a classical style. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, well-judged acidity, soft in texture, yet there is a sense of elegance on the finish. Not a candidate for long-term cellaring, but well crafted.

Aromas of cherries, flowers and pure fruit follow through to a medium body with fine tannins and lovely balance of beautifully ripened fruit. It shows fine tannins that are very long and intense. 78% merlot, 21% cabernet franc and 1% cabernet sauvignon. Better in two or three years, but already gorgeous.
