Tasting notes
Part of the 2023 collection of Xavier Vignon’s late releases, this 2000 Cornas has a vibrant and dark plum colour that is immediately inviting. Spicy pepper and grilled meat notes leap from the glass, layered with an array of ripe plum, figs, blackcurrants and cassis with a hint of wood in the background. Round, soft and supple tannins retain structure, thanks to extended maturation in large new and old oak. It is beautifully balanced with the mature dark fruit notes and a hint of liquorice. Elegant and polished, with a lingering finish, this is glorious now, but will develop earthier tones over the next five to 10 years.
