0.7 ha quite close to the town, near Domaine Faiveley. Dense clay on limestone rock – on top of the old quarry. They are the biggest of four owners in this cru. 60% whole bunch. Maximum 10% new oak. Mid crimson. More scented than the Maizières but still with a light stemmy herbal character, even though it is only 60% here. This is a beguiling wine: delicate but immensely long. The tannins super-fine but perfectly balanced by the scented red fruit. Great bone structure and not in the least skinny even though it is so delicate. Wonderfully juicy on the finish. (JH)

The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Procès, which includes 50% whole bunches, has a very feminine, pure red cherry and crushed strawberry bouquet that develops flinty scents with aeration. The medium-bodied palate displays supple tannin and a fine bead of acidity, and feels quite compact toward the finish; it will benefit from two or three years in bottle. Excellent.

Bursting with aromas of red berries, candied peel, peony and rose petal, the 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Procès is medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with a deep, layered core, excellent volume and amplitude and a chassis of fine-grained, chalky tannins that only makes itself felt on the fragrant finish. It's an elegant wine that is far from the stereotype of Nuits-Saint-Georges.
