Score 92/100 · Drink 2026-2040, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jan 2019

The 2016 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Procès is shutting down, opening reluctantly in the glass to reveal aromas of red berries, grilled meat and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny but dense, with a deep, concentrated core and chalky structuring tannins. This will need more time than the comparatively precocious 2017 rendition.

This smells almost overripe! Lots of sweet juiciness and freshness on the palate. Crunchy fruit. Real grip on the end. (JR)

(50% vendange entier ): Moderately saturated medium red. Aromas of plum, leather and game seem a bit diffuse. Then sweeter on the palate and a step up in concentration from the estate's village wines, with ripe plum and raspberry flavors complemented by herbs and spices. Finishes with serious tongue-dusting tannins and restrained sweetness.
