Tasting notes
Aged for 12 months in barriques. Then six months in bottle. Barrel selection. Made from 1987 to ensure Terre Brune quality was maintained. The company’s best seller. Intense and not obviously oaked. A pure varietal and terroir expression. Light chew and bitterness on the end suggests there’s no hurry to drink this. Quite long. Livelier than Terre Brune at this point. (JR)

Full bottle 1,344 g. 100% Carignan grown in calcareous, sandy soils. Hand-picked. Fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel for 15 days with frequent pumpovers. 12 months in French oak barriques. Crushed juniper berries on the nose so the wine starts fragrant and fresh and foresty but the warmth of the welcome on the palate is what anchors you. Velvety and wide and enveloping, like a big hug and a juicy blueberry-stained, liquorice-lipstick kiss followed by a staccato of spices. Very much a wine of Sardinia. (TC)
