Tasting notes
Aromas of peach, hazelnut and vanillin oak. Complex, layered and rather elegantly styled; ripe, leesy flavors of pear, nuts and minerals. Offers an enticing sugar/acid balance. Next to this the Chassagne-Montrachet comes across as drier and less pliant.

This is more elegant, finer and a bit more defined but what it gains in finesse and refinement, it gives back in density, power and depth. There is more minerality in evidence and I very much like the style and grace, especially at this level. A beautiful if not particularly dense effort.
There are 130 barrels produced of the excellent 2002 Puligny-Montrachet. Lily flower and mineral-scented, it is light-bodied, satiny-textured, and fleshy. A feminine, graceful wine, it offers flavors of minerals as well as hints of talcum powder. Drink it over the next 3 years.
