Tasting notes
The classic – and, in many people’s eyes, ultimate – expression of Volnay, Caillerets is a site with very little topsoil. The result is a wine with a sweet-fruited and alluring nose, all purity and freshness. On the palate, there’s a tart crunch and superfine tannins that complement the concentrated core – hinting at the 50-year-old vines – and cut by mineral freshness. Singing in 2020.

Even more intense purple than the Chevrets with a theme of intense brilliance and zest through the middle. The wood shows a bit at the moment though he has used less in his red wines this year. Will settle down. Just a touch soapy at the moment, but all the indications are of a grand vin. Sweet ripe cherries with a good thread of acidity.
About the producer

Based in Meursault and farming some of the finest vineyards in the Côte de Beaune, Henri Boillot is a leading address in Burgundy. He crafts fine Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but the estate is best known for its flagship monopole vineyard, Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Clos de la Mouchère.
