2019 Puligny Montrachet Les Caillerets

Aromas of citrus zest, dried white flowers, crisp Anjou pear, freshly baked bread and a touch of youthful reduction introduce de Montille's 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets, a medium to full-bodied, chiseled and concentrated wine that's taut and layered, with fine depth at the core and a long, saline finish.

The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet Les Caillerets 1er Cru is more backward and reticent compared to the Folatières at the moment. Matured in 30% new oak, but I agreed with winemaker Brian Sieve that the wood is barely noticeable. The palate is well balanced with very subtle tropical notes of mango and passion fruit on the entry, dovetailing into more citric notes toward the tensile finish. Great potential. This should be superb once in bottle.
