Score 91-93/100 · Drink 2024-2040, Neal Martin, Dec 2020

The 2019 Pommard Les Chaponnières 1er Cru comes from 85-year-old vines that are currently being used for a sélection massale . Matured with 25% whole clusters and 45% new oak, it has a very pure bouquet with commingling of red/black fruit laced with rose petals. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity, a little oak to be subsumed towards the finish that will come after racking and bottling. Excellent.
