Tasted blind. Lustrous dark crimson. Dense, rich and a little meaty on the nose. Lots of punchiness and emphasis. Chunky, chewy finish with a little heat. (JR)

Sweet, spicy but also dusty aroma. Much tighter on the palate than I expected, paper-fine tannins in terms of texture, but the whole is a little bit hard and bitter on the finish. (JH)
The 2011 Les Pensees de Lafleur is a blend of 54% Merlot and 46% Cabernet Franc. Juicy raspberry and herbal notes are accompanied by a medium-bodied mouthfeel, excellent ripeness and texture, and a savory, forward component. This 2011 should drink well for 10-15 years.
Deep dark black cherry. Fine, just ripe cherry fruit and just a little minty. Silky fine tannins. delicate, somehow both lacy and a little austere = elegant. Spicy aftertaste from the Cabernet, dark and mineral on the finish. Really mineral. The tannins are dry but the whole wine is so fluid. (JH)

The Société Civile du Ch. Lafleur is the collective name for the Guinaudeau family’s wines and estates. These are some of the Right Bank’s most famous wines, including Ch. Lafleur and Les Pensées in Pomerol, along with Les Perrières, Les Champs Libres and Ch. Grand Village in Fronsac.
