Score 91/100 · Drink 2021-2025, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Jun 2021
The Domenico Clerico 2018 Barbera d'Alba Trevigne sees its fruit sourced from three sites: the San Pietro vineyard, the northeast side of Ginestra and the southern part of Ginestra. These are nicely woven together with fruity softness, structure and freshness delivered in equal measure. The wine is redolent of dark cherry, dried blackberry and plum. That characteristic Barbera acidity is well played in this cool vintage with good focus: bright enough to cut through some lasagna. It never feels too sharp despite the cooler vintage. Some 15,000 bottles were made.
