Tasting notes
The 2002 Zinfandel Giuseppe & Luisa (675 cases of only 16.6% alcohol) has a big sweet nose of Asian spice, incense, creosote, smoked herbs, ripe berry fruit, currants, mincemeat, and plum liqueur. It is an exotic, distinctive, and individualistic wine to drink over the next 5-6 years. Tel. (707) 525-0570; Fax (707) 525-9463

(16.6% alcohol) Dark ruby color. Complex nose melds black fruits, smoke, game and pepper. Powerful if a bit musclebound, with thick flavors of dark fruits, espresso and chocolate. Finishes with very strong, slightly drying tannins. A bit youthfully stunted today: this was cloudy prior to bottling and had to be filtered.
About the producer

Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
