Tasting notes
The 1998 Brunello di Montalcino Sugarile is a dark garnet with ruby highlights. The nose is warm and complex with much caramel and chocolate in addition to the plum liqueur and wild cherries. This wine possesses a sizeable palate that is concentrated, dense, and chewy in texture yet with high quality tannins. Superior in dimension and length, it has power to burn. Drink: 2006-2018. Full, deep red-ruby color. Sweet, deep aromas of raspberry and chocolatey oak; smells like a wine from a thoroughly ripe year. Silky, fat and impressively concentrated, with compellingly sweet, fruit-driven flavors of raspberry, redcurrant and dried cherry. Here the wine's oak element has virtually disappeared into its fruit. Finishes with big, sweet tannins and persistent, complex finishing flavors. A star of the vintage.
